Earlymiser.com

I have been working on a new project called Early Miser it’s a pretty interesting project since it’s the first time I have outsourced to India (I have outsourced programming work to Russia for some time now ever since I hired Andrew Maltsev as CTO of Brave New Worlds. Early Miser is best described as a meta shopping comparison engine. Currently it’s not even up – I have parked the domain pending an August launch.

It has a host of social networking features allowing users to tag products, set up a custom RSS feeds for multiple products etc. For example let’s say I am shopping for a new home theater system. I can set up the system to moniter all the potential components I want to use in the system. The system will moniter prices on the various components and update an rss feed when they have hit user assigned pricing levels. (for example if any component is 20% the average price for the last three months trailing. The system (on the test server natch) moniters Yahoo Shopping, Ebay, Shopping.com, Amazon, Amazon Marketplace and Froogle. Post launch we may include pricegrabber but are unlikely to add MSN shopping since that’s just rebranded shopping.com and pricegrabber.com. So look for August launch – of course like most software project it will probably run over into late August instead of August 12 like I want. Oh well – that’s software.
