One project that we originally started was Towns USA. This project started by blending a wide variety of content from a large group of different sources and centering the data around specific localities. Providing information from a variety of sources from the US goverment we hope to shed some light on local communities.

We are one of the better providers of local information on the net. Of course we are not standing still. We will be providing a web services layer for local information. This information will allow a web site to provide usefull and very localized content based on queries in a geographic region. Right now we are in the design stages of developing a web service layer. This will certainly take some time. I will post an update when we are farther along. Right now attempting to display local information is woefully difficult as there is no central repository for information. We aim to be the central repository of that sort of information. The goal of the TownsUSA project isn’t help you find your local pizza place. Google does that just fine right now. It’s about about finding how close to your child’s school is to a toxic waste dump. It’s about finding things about your immediate community around you that you didn’t know before. It’s about building a web services layer that easily provides local information on a broad and deep range of topics. That’s the goal of TownsUSA.
