You Won’t Ever Be Successful If You Neglect Analytics

Everyone knows that when implementing any sort of marketing strategy you must strategize, implement the strategy, measure the strategy, analyze the strategy, adjust the strategy accordingly and repeat the process over and over. It’s a very scientific method and wildly successful method. And why wouldn’t you want to measure your results? How will you ever know whether or not you are being an effective marketer?

While this truth may be simple and obvious, many of us forget to do it. With the recent shifts in marketing to Web-based and social media platforms it is easier and more important than ever to be measuring results. You just can’t be successful without using analytics anymore. Why would you overlook such a vital tool? Passing up the use of analytics would be akin to a heart disease patient passing up a heart transplant. Well, it may not be quite that severe, but you get the point.

The Internet provides a wealth of knowledge. Some of this knowledge that you should be implementing if you aren’t already is the use of analytics for your website and blog. It is extremely important to be tracking what links and websites your visitors are coming from. You should be capitalizing on the methods in place that are already working. How can you do that if you have no idea which methods are working or not? While you are putting a good thing to excellent use, make sure the methods you are currently using that aren’t very effective are being tweaked and tracked until they are effective.

Why would you continue to waste thousands of dollars on a print media strategy that wasn’t producing any significant results? The fact is, you wouldn’t. You would be making sure that you had some sort of measurement in place to track the success or failure of fiscally expensive marketing campaigns. Why is social media any different? Your time is valuable enough to be taking action by measuring your social media results. If you haven’t already, get going on your analytics use. Go collect that data, interpret what it means for your marketing strategies and adjust accordingly.
