Oracle Consultancy Around The World

Wouldn’t it be nice if there was someone who could tell you what will happen tomorrow, someone who could tell you how to respond to the challenges you are going to face in the future.

An Oracle was a special person in classical times, a person who was wise beyond the rest of society, who could predict future events and offer people spiritual and moral guidance on important matters in their lives. It was generally thought that these special abilities were gifted to the oracles by the gods, and that they had a responsibility to offer their services to those who needed it. People saw oracles as a way to speak directly to god.

The word “oracle” derives from the latin verb “to speak”, and has been used to describe the person, the location or even the statements, advice and predictions themselves.

Ancient Greece
The priestess Pythia gained a unique prominence in the male-dominated Ancient Greece, because she was inspired to give prophecies by Apollo. She was the oracle at Delphi, and gave these prophecies on the seventh day of each month. Individuals who were seeking guidance would sacrifice animals to the oracle, and consult them on important matters. She was the highest authority on civil and religious matters in ancient Greece, answering questions posed to her by kings and philosophers as well as citizens and foreigners on issues as diverse as politics, warfare, crime and the law. Other Greek oracles included Dione and Zeus.

Ancient India
In ancient Indian tradition, an oracle was an object known as Akashwani or Asariri, and played an important role in many of the stories which make up holy texts the Mahabharata and Ramayana. Krishna is a deity written about in the Bhagavad Gita and Bhagavad Purana, whose evil uncle was told by an oracle that the eighth son of sister Devaki would murder him. Oracles still exist in India today, with messages and wisdom from the oracle would appear on flat metallic plates.

Tibetan Buddhism
Oracles have always played an integral role in the governing and religion of Tibetan Buddhism, with the word describing a spirit than enters a man or a woman who then acts as the portal between natural and spiritual worlds.

The Buddhist leader, The Dalai Lama, still consults an oracle, and it is still considered the official oracle of the Tibetan government, despite the fact that he now resides in northern India.

Oracles have been present in a wide range of cultures throughout history, from ancient Greece to ancient India, The Igbo in Nigeria and even Norse societies, with individuals who seek answers consulting the oracle for advice and wisdom.
