Optimizing your blog for Pay Per Post

This post is about how to improve your blog for Pay Per Post. In order to do that, let’s look at your blog from the advertiser’s perspective. Since I am a blogger and a pretty regular user of Pay Per Post as an advertiser here are my ideas as a blogger to get the most from Pay Per Post.

Get your own domain!
One of the primary reasons an advertiser is using Pay Per Post is that it is cost effect link development. Furthermore it is very common for an advertiser to exclude hosted blogs. The reasons are usually because while the blog might have Page Rank, you can never tell what changes Google might make. They may decide that an entire host is a vector for spam. This is not very likely to happen for a single domain. Please note that you can now use custom domains with blogspot.com so there really isn’t any excuse. Domains are pretty cheap as well.
Always Exceed Word Count Expectations
There’s an old adage in business, under promise and over deliver and that’s especially true in blogging for dollars. I usually spend quite a bit of time at each site that is requesting the post. If they request a single link, I provide two and then I usually provide multiple deep links to their product catalog or a feature that is unique to the web site. This will help you build your Tack which is the Pay Per Post quality indicator. Advertisers like it when you exceed their expectations. Don’t you like it when someone goes that extra mile?
Respond to correction requests that day
I have only had to do two corrections in my Pay Per Posts and the oversights were entirely my own. I made sure I quickly corrected them and re-submitted them. Once again be responsive and try to exceed expectations.
Build up your incoming links
Many the highest level opportunities require high Page Rank, Alexa Rank or Technorati ranking. Building your Page Rank is a simple matter of building incoming links. Browse our link building category or try the following link building blog. Incoming links from blogs will help with both your Page Rank and Alexa Ranking so get to building those incoming links.
Make sure you understand the type of post
Is it Buzz? A review? Positive? Neutral? Opinion? Getting the tone of the post right is crucial for getting positive advertiser feedback. Remember the advertiser is looking for a specific result from this campaign so make sure your post matches the advertiser’s expectations
Be picky
Filling your blog paid posts from multiple providers is a sure way to drive your readers away. Sure it might but some cash in your hands but your blog is your brand. Try to match opportunities with your blog.
Have a Disclosure Policy
Have a clear disclosure policy in place. You can simply generate a disclosure policy and then note each post that is a paid post. Transparency is important when blogging.
Install the Disclosure Badge
This will open up additional opportunities for your and quite frankly provide more information about a particular post when it is required. Once again more transparency is better than less.
