Why I don't use a Blackberry. Or a cell phone.

When I left Pasadena I made a conscious choice to adapt a "slower" lifestyle. Why? Because I sensed that all that sound and fury signified nothing. Now after nearly two years here I can safely say it was the right choice.

Why? I suspect that in a rush people often miss important details. Blackberries provide instant messaging but not depth of knowledge. In fact the uncomfortable keyboard makes it a certainty that nuances are lost in both communication and meaning. Email itself loses meaning as it lacks facial nuances we humans are used to recieving. That's why so many flame wars erupt online - people say things that would be utterly insane if they said them in person. So I decided to pursue depth rather than speed of response. Has it be been better? Yeap. Far better than I would have othewise been.
